WineJob

WineJob (since 2006) is an independent consultancy firm based in Arnhem, the Netherlands, with a specialization in wine and marketing. Owner Job de Swart (1981) holds a M.Sc. title in International Business Studies and is currently in the final stage of the Masters of Wine study programme. In the past, Job de Swart has done research about implementation of geographic information systems in the wine industry in collaboration with Maastricht University (The Netherlands) and Hochfachschule Geisenheim (Germany).

Within the Rain4Africa project, WineJob focuses on the development of an online decision support system for viticulturalists called Grape Compass. This software tool will help Western Cape grape growers to optimise vineyard operations by making reliable, location-specific forecasts of fungal disease pressures. Signalling for grapevine diseases including powdery mildew, downy mildew and botrytis contributes to more efficient spraying schemes saving costs of fungicides, labour and the environment. Besides that, WineJob will share best-practice experiences and consult other members within the consortium with the development of software applications.
