Dutch Water Authority Waterschap Drents Overijsselse Delta
Dutch Water Authority Waterschap Drents Overijsselse Delta (WDODelta) is a Regional Water Authority which is responsible for water management in the provinces of Drenthe and Overijssel. The legal form of Dutch Water Authorities is local government, like a Municipality, but they only deal with water management: flood control, water quantity control, water quality control and waste water treatment. The legal basis lies in the Constitution and the Integrated Water Law. WDODelta has an independent full cost recovery for her tasks in water management through direct taxes and employs more than 500 employees.
In the Rain for Africa project WDODelta is the Government partner that is the liaison between Water and Agriculture and brings in knowledge and experience on Operational Water Management, Cooperative Governance, stakeholder engagement and the relation of water and agriculture. Through the Kingfisher project knowledge is shared with all 9 CMA’s in South Africa and the transboundary basins of the Southern African international Incomati, Limpopo and Orange Rivers.
